This policy explains how Picks are settled, and how we handle errors and corrections. Terms used here have the meaning given in our Terms & Conditions.
1. How settlement works
Once the real-world sporting event underlying your Pick reaches a final result, your Pick is settled automatically, based on official results from our third-party sports-data provider(s). This happens through the same automated settlement process for every account on the Platform — there is no separate or preferential process for any account.
2. Outcomes
A Pick settles as a win, loss, or push (a stake returned with no profit or loss), based on the actual result. Where an underlying event is cancelled, the affected Pick (or, for a multi/parlay Pick, the affected leg) is voided and has no effect on your balance or Open Exposure. Where an event is postponed, the affected Pick remains open and pending until the event reaches a final result or is cancelled — a postponement does not itself void a Pick, since the event may yet resume. For racing selections specifically, where multiple runners are officially declared to have tied, the affected Pick's win amount may be divided among the tied runners in accordance with standard dead-heat rules.
3. When settlement is done manually
Sports Picks are settled automatically as described above. Racing Picks, where enabled, are settled manually by our team once official results are available, since our racing data provider does not supply an automated results feed — this does not change the outcome you're entitled to, only who confirms it.
4. Errors and corrections
Genuine errors can occur — for example, incorrect or stale odds, incorrect or duplicate fixture data, a data-provider outage, an incorrect event status, or a system bug. Where we identify such an error affecting a settlement, we may correct it. A correction:
- never edits or removes your original settlement record — a new, corrected entry is recorded alongside it, so your full history remains visible and auditable; - is applied individually, to the specific Pick(s) actually affected by the error — we do not use a correction to retroactively alter legitimate performance that wasn't itself the product of the error; and - may, where it changes whether your account met or breached the applicable rules, trigger the ordinary consequence of that (progression, funding, or a Rule Breach) exactly as it would have if the corrected outcome had been the original one.
If a data-provider error affects many Picks at once (for example, from a single mispriced event), each affected Pick is corrected individually, following our standard process — see PART_2_DISCREPANCY_REPORT.md/PART_7 for the current technical scope of this, which we do not overstate here.
5. Reporting a suspected settlement error
If you believe a Pick was settled incorrectly, contact support@stakesteps.com.au with your Pick reference and the reason you believe it's incorrect. We investigate every genuine report.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Settlement Policy from time to time. The version in force is the one published on this page, showing its last-updated date.
