Frequently Asked Questions
Last updated: 20 August 2026
This page answers common questions about our policies. It doesn't replace them — where there's any difference, the full policy (linked from each answer) governs. For product questions (what sports are offered, how phases work, etc.), see the FAQ on our homepage.
Is StakeSteps gambling? No. StakeSteps is not a casino, sportsbook, or gambling operator, and does not accept or place wagers of any kind. All Pick activity happens in a simulated environment against a simulated account balance — no real-money wager is ever placed, by you or by us. See section 2 of our Terms & Conditions.
Is my money at risk when I place a Pick? No. The money you spend is the price of your Challenge purchase itself. Once purchased, your Challenge Account's balance is entirely simulated — no further real money is placed at risk by placing a Pick.
What is a Performance Reward, exactly? Real money we pay you, calculated as a percentage (80% standard, or 100% with the add-on described below) of your Funded Account's profit above its locked benchmark. It isn't a withdrawal of your simulated balance. See our Reward Policy.
Can I get 100% of my profit? Yes. Our standard split is 80%/20%, but you can select the 100% Reward Split add-on at checkout for an additional AUD $120, which permanently entitles that Challenge Account to a 100%/0% split instead. See our Reward Policy for the full detail, including how it carries forward on a restart.
How many active Challenge Accounts can I hold? Up to 5 at a time, pooled across every Standard, Pro, and Instant Funded Challenge and Funded Account you hold — not 5 per product. This is enforced automatically at purchase. See our Challenge Rules page.
Is there a minimum age to use StakeSteps? Yes — you must be at least 18 years old. We collect your date of birth at sign-up and check it against this requirement. See section 4 of our Terms & Conditions.
Can I get a refund? Challenge purchases are generally final and non-refundable — there's no general change-of-mind refund. We do make exceptions at our discretion for genuine duplicate charges, technical issues on our part, and other circumstances we consider warrant it, and applicable law may give you further rights that can't be excluded. See our Refund Policy for the full detail.
Can I get my Challenge fee back? Yes, if you purchased an eligible Standard or Pro Challenge, pass it, become Funded, and successfully receive your first qualifying Reward — we refund your original Challenge fee (not including the 100% Reward Split add-on or other add-ons). This doesn't apply to Instant Funded purchases. See our Reward Policy and Refund Policy for the full eligibility criteria.
What happens if I breach a rule? Your Challenge Account closes immediately. Your other Challenge Accounts, if any, are unaffected. You can usually restart at 50% of your original price — see our Challenge Rules and Funded Account Rules pages.
Do I need to verify my identity? Not to browse, purchase, or use the Platform day-to-day. You'll need to complete a one-time identity check before your first Reward payment. See our Reward Policy and Privacy Policy.
What happens to my data? See our Privacy Policy for the full detail on what we collect, why, and who we share it with.
Can I exclude myself or set limits? Yes — spending limits, a cooling-off period, and self-exclusion are all available from your dashboard. See our Responsible Participation page for what each does (note: self-exclusion cannot be reversed by you once requested).
What can get my account suspended or closed? See section 14 (Prohibited Conduct) and section 15 (Investigation, Suspension, Restriction, and Termination) of our Terms & Conditions, and our Acceptable Use Policy, for the full detail.
How do I make a complaint? Email support@stakesteps.com.au — we aim to respond within 24-48 hours. See our Complaints Procedure for what happens next.
Where can I read the full legal terms? Every policy referenced on this page is available at stakesteps.com.au/legal.
